Nice Free Screenshot Software (for saving charts)

We often find that it is helpful to take screenshots of the charts for our trades. It is often the case that what you think is a good trade one day doesn’t look so good with another year of experience. Or if you find that your trades used to be more profitable than they are now you may wonder if you are doing anything different. In both cases it is quite helpful to have a screenshot of your chart to look back on.

It’s also beneficial to be able to quickly browse images of past trades for a given setup to look for commonalities in your wins and losses.

Up until now, we would just take a screenhost by using PrtSc (to save screen to clipboard) and then paste the clipboard into Microsoft Paint which would need to be cropped and text and arrows added. It was kind of a pain to do, but we just recently found some nice free screenshot software that works much better.

https://www.snipaste.com/

It actually took some time to find this and much of the screenshot software out there is either an extension for your browser (so it won’t work in our charting software) or only allows a free trial. Snipaste has neither of these limitations, and it has editing capability built in so the image doesn’t need to be imported into a graphics editor to add text or arrows. Anyway, we are finding it is saving us a fair amount of time so we’re recommending it.
